The global economic crisis, whose serious consequences Croatia is facing, has encouraged a decisive and urgent reform as well as painful and necessary cuts in the state and local administration in order to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Folkpartiet (Sweden) will organise a conference on 28th May in Stockholm titled "Together for Liberal Democracy in Eastern Europe" The first discussion will look at the controversies around gay pride festivals in Serbia and Lithuania in the context of freedom of expression and the second debate will explore the challenges of developing a modern service economy when there are serious restrictions on communication via the internet and other means.
